Globalisation
The Tread Lightly Caravan Visit
Room 14 had a wonderful time learning about ways we can be 'responsible global citizens' by making small changes to the way we live and think. These 'environmentally friendly changes can have a significant difference to how our planet will look and feel to live in for humans, animals and other living organisms in the future. Please view the comments below and read about how our class felt about this interactive programme, what they have learnt and how that impacts the decisions and way they will do things in the future to ensure that they contribute to preserving this planet not its destruction.
I found the Tread Lightly caravan very Fun entertaining and interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part was the activity with Ryo's mum when the computer game told you haw many earths you would need and the bike where we got to power appliances. Everybody learnt lots and hopefully had fun
I enjoyed the Tread Lightly caravan and have learnt tons.
Anna ;)
WHAT AN AWESOME TIME I HAD! The Tread lightly caravan was so cool, fun and interesting. I learnt that my group, group D, needed 3.8 Earths on the environmental footprint. My favourite part was the Power bike with Mrs Cameron. I got all the appliances to work except the kettle. I had an awesome session with the Tread Lightly caravan and I hope everyone else did too.
ReplyDeleteSam :)
I enjoyed the tread lightly caravan a lot. When my group the environmental footprint we needed 3.2 earths ( we were doing better than the average New Zealander). My favourite activity was the power bike.I got all the appliances to turn on except the kettle.
ReplyDeleteAllan.X ^_^
P.S I learn't a lot like the average new Zealander needs 3.5 earths.i also learn't that jackets are made of plastic. I help out by having less time in the shower and turning the tap off when I am brushing my teeth. I wish they could have stayed longer. Allan.X
DeleteI loved the Tread Lightly caravan because of many things! My favourite activity was the micro-scope. Just because I love science. And I also learned many things I never knew before. Like bees have hair to carry pollen, and our jackets are made out of bottles! And I have also improve at home. I have turned off the tap when brushing me teeth. That day was awesome
ReplyDeleteJessica :)
I really enjoyed our time with the Tread Lightly caravan! I learnt that we are putting to much gas and fumes into the air and it is creating a blanket around the earth, and the heat can't get in but the heat can't get out! Also that it is not good to throw away you phone it is better to recycle them. It also takes a lot of energy to power appliances it was really cool to try and power them on the bike, and I learnt that it is very important to save power and water and Tread Lightly on our Plant!!
ReplyDeleteJade :)
oops the heat can get in but it cant get out SORRY :(
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Tread Lightly caravan. I learnt heaps about how I can save the earth. I learnt that you can recycle your old phones instead of getting rid of them. I also learnt that it takes a lot of energy to power appliances but trying out the bike was really cool. It takes a lot of energy to power the kettle which not many people could do. I didn't know that a lot of gas and fumes go into the air and create a blanket around the earth so then heat can come in but can't get out. My favourite activity was the power bike. I now know how important it is to save water and power.

I really liked our tread lightly session last week it was a lot of fun. We got to do so many fun activities. My favorite part of the session was the energy bike we had to ride the bike to make as much electricity as we can first I got a light then a lamp at the point it was really fun. Next was the sander which found very fun. Now finally I got to try the kettle I had been told that it was the hardest machine to operate but I still gave it a go. I got the light of the kettle working but I couldn't make the water boil. After my session of tread lightly I now know what were doing is wrecking the environment so from now on i'm going to try harder to save water and electricity
ReplyDeleteWe can still save our environment
I loved the tread lightly visit because I learnt that we are polluting the air and making a blanket of heat around the earth. The heat can get in but it cant get out.
ReplyDeleteI also learned how much energy it takes to boil one kettle. The things in the caravan are a bit fragile but we were aloud to touch them. I enjoyed looking at the bugs close up. When we were doing the travel log I got 31k and everyone else got about 1k so the total was 39k -_-
My favourite activity was the stationary bike because I realised that we are using way to much energy.
My favourite thing about the bike was I got the kettle light flickering ;)

I loved the tread lightly visit because we learnt lots of new stuff like ways we can recycle stuff. My favourite was looking through the microscope and seeing all the textures on the bugs. I learnt that we were polluting the air when we drive our cars. It creates a blanket of heat around the earth where heat can get in but not go out and this creates global warming. Global warming might melt the ice and flood the world.
ReplyDeletethat last one is from Mitchell

I enjoyed the amazing tread lightly van a lot because I could have lots of fun while learning at the same time. I learnt that cars, electric and heating all burn fossil fuel to get the energy. However the fossil fuel makes something called carbon dioxide which creates an invisible blanket around Earth and traps heat in Earth which can't escape the atmosphere. this is called global warming. I also learnt that a kettle needs a huge amount of energy of power to work and also that you could find gold and those stuff in a old computer! I had a unforgettable day.

I love science, and this is science. Powering a kettle with a bike, or lookig at things under a microscope. Who dosn't call that science? I liked the e-waste and skinks and vines. I learned that you can recycle copper at the recyling centre for ove $7. I also learned that you can gold, silver, and other precious metals in computers. Tread lightly caravan is a caravan like no other.
ReplyDeleteOn caravan week I got to learn lots of electric my group went on the recycle and the bike that turns on light bulbs and lots of other ones. Their was this activity called lizards and trees if we go on a tree a teacher asks us a question about New Zealand and if go to the goal the teacher asks you a question. In some of the laptops and phones their are gold and silver and copper but gold has other metals mixed to gold to make it hard.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the TREAT LIGHTLY CARAVAN because I learnt lots of thing about helping the earth just by making small changes to the way we make and do. I realized that we really need to help the earth for humans, animals and plants. Also we are putting much gas into the air, and that creates the blanket called GLOBAL WARMING. However, I very enjoyed treat lightly caravan and I hope everybody did even the teachers!!!
